• Water management

The Bengal government sees water management - in the light of climate change and rising sea levels - as a priority and mentions it in a number of policy documents as well as the PRSP. More specifically, this means 'land reclamation' (the process of building dams between islands/off the coast in order to reclaim land naturally). In the coast management policy formulated in 2005 the government announced it would develop a plan of action for 'land reclamation'.

• Energy

Input in relation to electricity generation.
The energy sector is relevant because at present, only 45 percent of the population has electricity. Problems in the energy sector are caused by such things as a lack of finance, slow maintenance and revision, insufficient generation capacity and a lack of business culture. The government has set itself the goal of providing everyone with a stable power supply by 2020. In particular, investments in electricity for the rural sector have priority as this has the most immediate impact on fighting poverty. Additional production capacity could be realised through investment in conventional methods but also through investment in renewable energy sources.

• Environment

Bangladesh stated that waste processing was its third priority.
