Romania's unprocessed steel production went up by 64.5 percent in the first six months of 2010, to 1.86 million tons, exceeding by over two times the 28 percent world market growth of production standing at 706 million tons, according to World Steel Association.

Romania's steel production in June 2010 doubled on a year-on-year basis at 340,000 tons from 169,000. Global unprocessed steel production in June was up 18 per cent at 118.7 million tons. Last year, steel production in Romania dropped by 46.4 percent to 2.7 million tons.
